The Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences (AMS), Chiang Mai University (CMU), participated in carrying on the annual "Trekking up the Mountain" (รับน้องขึ้นดอย) tradition, leading new students to pay homage at the Phra Borom That Doi Suthep Temple for the year 2025.
The theme for this year was: "Welcoming New Students Up the Mountain: A Hundred Lands, a Thousand Tribes, Diverse Peoples Unite in Prosperity" (“รับน้องขึ้นดอย ร้อยภู พันธุ์เผ่า หลากเหล่าชนเนา ล้วนวัฒนา”).
The event saw participants unite in trekking up to the Doi Suthep Temple for an auspicious blessing, strengthening the unity between alumni and current students.
Professor Dr. Sakorn Pornprasert, Dean, along with administrators, faculty members, and alumni of the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, joined the procession on November 22, 2025. The trek began at the main entrance of Chiang Mai University and concluded at the Phra Borom That Doi Suthep Ratcha Worawihan Temple.

The "Trekking to Doi Suthep" (Rub Nong Khuen Doi) tradition is one of the most significant annual events at Chiang Mai University (CMU).
History and Purpose
- Origin: The tradition began concurrently with the founding of Chiang Mai University in 1964 (B.E. 2507).
Goal: The primary purpose is for new students to pay homage at the Phra That Doi Suthep Temple for auspicious blessings and to build unity and strengthen the bond between senior students and the incoming class.
Route and Key Activity
- The Trek: The activity involves a walk/trek that spans approximately 14 kilometers, starting from the main entrance of Chiang Mai University and proceeding uphill to the temple.
Show of Spirit: A hallmark of the tradition is the "Show of Spirit" (Show Spirit) activity. First-year students from each faculty gather at the Khun Kan curve along the route to showcase their preparedness and unity before continuing the climb.
